Interactive Musical Planetarium

Having realized and installed several digital creations in the hospitals, Art dans la Cité, proposes today to move forward in the universe of the interactive creations with a new project, including altogether visual and sounds, for the profit of hospitalized children between France and USA. Interactive musical Planetarium is an interactive audiovisual installation proposed by the artist Adrien Garcia, who is altogether, musician, video director and artist in interactive media. Interactive musical Planetarium will be realized for the “Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, and for the “Pole Mère Enfants Laennec, Necker Enfants Malades Hospital” in Paris Interactive musical Planetarium is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and by Ministère de la Culture et de la Commnication This installation will be a space of creation and expression; it will present so much interest for the contemplative spectator as for the one who wishes to interact with it. Through the various modalities of interaction which will be proposed, the children will be more attentive to their body, to their posture, to their positions and movements in the space, and in the relations with the others, so that they could become aware of dynamic relations existing between these various elements. For example, the facial expressions, the physical postures, the movements have a direct impact on our psyche: a smile, even forced, helps us to feel better, and the fact of standing up straight, breathing profoundly, gives us more confidence in us. The Technical device consists of a large-sized screen (approximately 70 or 80 "), connected with a computer, and itself connected to Kinect V2 and of a tablet. The visual contents will evoke a starry sky. It will be generated with algorithms able to interact with the behavior of the "spectators "and will propose a dynamic, organic, alive attitude. Through the various visual elements (twinkling stars, vaporous nebulas, abstract elements), a magic, joyful and dreamlike atmosphere will be established. The sounds will create magical, joyous, mysterious atmosphere. For stellar elements, crystal clear sounds and twinkling will be privileged; each note is like a small star. These sounds will be worked from music box sound, glockenspiel, small bells and Tibetan bowls, delicate and poetic sounds. The Interactivity will propose several modalities of expression that children will be able to discover and explore. They will be encouraged to interact with the system, but also between them. Five terms of individual interactions will be proposed: position and movement in space, hands gesture, shape and posture, orientation of the face, morphology of the face and facial expression The different melodic lines facial constellations and other stellar musical designs will be exchanged between the two hospitals through a virtual private network (VPN for Virtual Private Network) to create a communication between children in Baltimore and in Paris.
